Protect the vulnerable with confidence and expertise. This specialised HOPE training equips professionals with the practical skills and evidence-based knowledge needed to assess and manage the risk of harm to older adults.
Across three engaging sessions, you will:
-
Gain a clear understanding of older adult mistreatment and its dynamics
-
Learn step-by-step approaches to violence risk assessment and risk management
-
Gain resources to help with safety planning for older adult victims
-
Identify proven risk factors linked to abuse in later life
-
Apply the HOPE assessment to real-world safeguarding cases
Designed for anyone working in safeguarding, this training goes beyond theory and provides a tool which you can immediately use in practice. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of what factors increase the risk of older adult abuse, stronger and empirically based decision-making skills, and a certificate demonstrating your competence in using the HOPE. Training also includes ongoing access to training materials and other related resources via this website.
Training is delivered live online by Dr Jennifer Storey, the lead author of HOPE. Dr Storey is a Registered Forensic Psychologist and internationally recognised researcher in violence risk assessment and interpersonal violence. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications and funding from organisations such as the National Institutes of Health, the World Health Organization, and the UK Home Office, she brings world-class expertise directly to your learning experience.
