Storey et al. (2025)

Here is our paper in the Journal of Threat Assessment and Management that describes the HOPE and includes a complete violence risk assessment using the HOPE. The case being assessed is also provided. This could be used for your own practice and could be shared with others to demonstrate what you have learned and what the HOPE can do.

Comforting Hands

In this paper we examined why victims of older adult abuse withdrew from a social work based support service. We found that a1-in-3 victims withdrew from the service. Some withdrew after as long as 22 months of support. The primary reason for withdrawal was that the victim denied that abuse was present. Victims who denied the presence of abuse were 10 times more likely to withdraw than victim who did not.
